The Jardine Retreat Cottage
Located in the heart of the Jardine, Montana, the Jardine Retreat Cottage was built in 2019. Escape from the crowds of Yellowstone and get away from the stresses of every day life. This two bedroom cottage has a kitchen, a cozy fireplace to relax by, and the sounds of Bear Creek just outside. Enjoy hiking and ski trails right out the front door. Jardine is a quiet, serene community surrounded on three sides by Wilderness, and is just 5 miles away from Yellowstone National Park.
The Jardine Retreat Cottage is a newly constructed getaway with rustic mountain charm. It has two bedrooms with queen beds, one full bathroom, a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, and a living room with comfy couches around a gas fireplace with a TV above in a secret cabinet. The house comfortably accommodates four people, and is perfect for two couples traveling together.
Tucked right up against the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness, Jardine abounds with hiking, fishing, horseback riding (through local outfitters) in the Summer, cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing and snowshoeing in the Winter, and endless year-round wildlife watching and outdoor exploring. There are no services in Jardine (ie: fuel, grocery stores, restaurants, etc) so remember to top up your fuel tank, go out to eat, and grab some groceries and those last couple of essentials at the Gardiner Market before heading up the road to Jardine.
Only Verizon phones work in Jardine. There is no TV/cable/satellite service, but for rainy days we do have a TV screen with a DVD/Blu-ray player and internet streaming capabilities with a handful of movies available to watch, as well as games, books and puzzles to enjoy by our cozy fireplace.
Cottage Testimonials
We love Zondra’s place! This was our 2nd trip here for cross-country skiing, and the place is just fabulous. Perfect for two, can accommodate four but would have to share one bathroom. Need to warm up your feet? Just head to the bathroom with its heated floor. We love that. Kitchen and floors throughout are super clean, which I found out wiping up a small kitchen spill. No dirt was left on my paper towel. Kitchen is well stocked. We cooked two meals there this time, and it was so easy. Both of our stays were amazing and we will definitely be back. Thanks for everything Zondra, including the bottle of wine! - Julie
The Jardine Retreat lives up to its name. Cabin has a big window with a great view. A great space to relax after a busy day. Excellent, fast to respond communication. Zondra helped us find things to do in Jardine and Gardiner when the North Entrance to Yellowstone was closed, and we kept very busy for our 3 night stay. Nice nearby hikes and horse riding options. Thanks for a great stay! - Todd
Truly a Paradise Retreat for nordic skiers!!! This little paradise, up high in the mountains in the very small community of Jardine, is something very special. I nordic skied both classic and skate styles only minutes from the cottage a short drive up even further into the mountains on a trail maintained by the Forest Service where snow was plentiful. The next day I did a beautiful ski in Yellowstone gliding over wolf tracks as the sun set illuminating Electric Peak. The cottage was spotless upon arrival and the fire place warmed the heart and soul after skiing. Located in a remote spot they've thought of everything and have the essentials available (coffee, a quick dinner, wine) in case you've forgotten something or get there and don't want to return the 5 miles back to Gardiner for supplies. A truly wonderful winter escape for nordic skiers... – Mary
It is difficult to overstate how awesome this place is! First off, the setting up in the mountains with close proximity to Yellowstone's north entrance and the views/wildlife up Jardine Road are gorgeous. The cabin is easy to access and the neighbors are all really friendly. The cabin itself is just superb. So comfortable and cozy. Standouts are the tall ceilings, gas fireplace, heated bathroom floor and the very well apportioned kitchen! We cooked each of our nights, getting ingredients from the fabulous little Gardiner Market. Try the ground bison or elk for something different and delicious! Also it's a great place for digital detox - you will not miss having wifi. Can't say enough good things about Zondra's place and she is a great host. We will most certainly be back! – Frank
A gem of a cabin. My husband and I spent several nights in the Jardine Retreat Cottage in late January. What a gem of a cabin in a pristine gorge north of Yellowstone National Park. Its proximity to northern Yellowstone makes Jardine a beautiful vantage point for wildlife viewing, skiing and sightseeing. The cabin is clean, well laid-out and cozy! I cuddled up on the couch by the fireplace with a book after spending the day in Lamar Valley observing wolves, bison and elk. What a relaxing space to reflect on the day. The heated floor in the bathroom makes me wonder why I don’t have that at home. Truly inspirational is the art work in the cabin by Mimi Matsuda. She portrays wildlife in a lovable, humorous way. Zondra made very helpful and accurate recommendations regarding ski trails and wildlife watching. They are attentive hosts and I could not be happier with the cabin. - Gunda
This space is seriously an oasis. There’s no better way to be so close to nature and still have the comfort of a cozy rental. It was very easy to find the spot and traverse the road up. Incredibly clean, and well curated. One of those rare Airbnbs that makes you fantasize about quitting your job and asking the owner if they’d sell the property. Would absolutely stay here again. – Darrick
